Kumpan handled the UX design and development when the elevator manufacturer's website needed rethinking.

A smarter elevator with simpler installation

In 1995, four entrepreneurs founded Aritco in Kungsängen, just outside of Stockholm. All four had experience in the elevator industry but felt that something was missing: a new type of product that was easier to install, and simpler and smarter to use. Today, Aritco produces approximately 4,000 elevators per year, which are sold in 40 different countries.

A difficult task: Merging several websites into one

Sometimes you need to inventory the pages owned by a company and then consider whether all of them are really necessary. In Aritco's case, we agreed that three separate sites for all the different elevators were not needed. Instead, we wanted to gather all the pages on one site where users could get all the information they needed.

A thorough job was done by us at Kumpan, together with Aritco and other consultants, as we created sitemaps and flowcharts for the new website. When we felt that we had included everything, we could start designing what the new site would look like.

Designing for those who visit the site — and for those who administer it

We realized early in the project that content would become a central part of Aritco's new website. They put a lot of effort into making sure that all content provides visitors with an exclusive and consistent feel across the entire site.

Therefore, we wanted to create a design that makes it easy for those who produce content to create new pages and edit existing ones. WordPress, therefore, became an obvious choice when it came to content management systems.

We also made sure that there were a variety of different 'blocks' for the content creator to use. We designed approximately 40 different types of sections that the user can use to customize a subpage in no time. This means that Aritco does not need to contact a web agency to update content, but can solve it on their own without the risk of anything breaking, both in terms of design and development. Smart, right?

The result: More satisfied visitors and happier content creators

Just as we love to make our clients' customers satisfied, we feel the same about those who actually use the product we create to produce new content and edit existing material on the site.

A big part of the project was to update the site to today's standards and ensure that the look and feel were future-proof. Since Aritco already had an up-to-date graphic profile, it was easy to follow it and then produce new digital components in a design system. Throughout the entire design process, we had the keywords elegance and exclusivity in mind.

Another equally important part of the project was a user-friendly content management system so that new content could be produced smoothly. We put a lot of effort into making sure there were simple sections that could be added and edited anywhere on the site. This resulted in the content creators' daily work becoming much easier.

A jackpot for both visitors and users, we think!
